In this marketing package for the redesign of a local church’s fellowship hall, the primary design challenge was balancing improved accessibility for an aging congregation with modernizing the space to attract younger members. To improve accessibility we included a gentle ramp into the below-grade area, a cutting-edge Telecoil hearing loop system, and a soft cloud ceiling to help reduce background noise. To improve the overall experience for all visitors, we placed daylight-simulating LEDs in the below-grade light wells, integrated warm materials and colors, and included controlled uplighting for softer diffuse lighting. My contributions included precedent investigations and research into Telecoil hearing loops, preliminary design of the seating and storage feature, drafting and detailing technical drawings for presentation, and producing renders via TwinMotion. Fork Design, 2022.
The proposed update for FCPC included a low-grade ramp, two modern projection/AV zones, and an integrated seating/storage feature.
Important factors for the congregation included inviting, warm materials; diffuse, natural lighting; abundant seating; and the inclusion of a newly commissioned logo on the sliding partition wall.
